Not here to give away plans: Roddy Estwick on Marnus Labuschagne's weakness

The first Test in Perth between Australia and West Indies ended in complete domination for the home side, who comfortably won the match by 164 runs and took an unassailable 1-0 lead. For Australia, it was Marnus Labuschagne who ransacked the Windies' bowling attack to become only the eighth player to score a double ton and a century in the same match.

However, Labuschagne's struggles against pace were quite evident during his duel with Alzarri Joseph, who clocked over 140 kph consistently. During the 2021 Ashes, England's Mark Wood also created problems for the prolific batter.

Speaking ahead of the Pink-Ball Test, West Indies assistant coach Roddy Estwick talked about how the visitors would tackle Labuschagne.

Here's what Estwick said

"You obviously have your plans. I'm not here to give away plans but we'll have a look; we will see his uncomfortable areas, his uncomfortable moments, and we'll try and target them as much as possible,"

Estwick went on to praise Joseph for his bowling in the first Test, where he failed to pick up a wicket despite impressing all.

"We were impressed the way Joseph bowled with the new ball in the second innings… I personally think a big haul is just around the corner, a five-for waiting,"

The second and final Test begins tomorrow in Adelaide.
