Team India's World Cup journey concluded disastrously, as England handed them a crushing ten-wicket defeat in their semifinal clash in Adelaide. Following the team's underwhelming World Cup campaign, some former cricketers have called for significant changes in the Indian T20 setup.

Former England spinner Monty Panesar has also voiced his opinion regarding the matter. Panesar, who believes India should invest in youth, opined that it's high time senior players like Rohit Sharma, Dinesh Karthik and Ravichandran Ashwin should hang up their boots to make room for youngsters in the T20I team.

However, he stressed that legendary India batter Virat Kohli can play another World Cup as he is supremely fit and still India's best anchor in the shortest format.

Here's what Panesar told TOI

"Rohit, Dinesh Karthik and R Ashwin are the top names who could say goodbye to T20I cricket. The team management will surely have a meeting with these guys and will ask them about their plans. It is time these players make way for young players,

Virat is in great form. He is the fittest among all the Indian players. Age is just a number for Virat considering his super fitness. You may see him in the 2024 T20 World Cup."

Meanwhile, India have departed for New Zealand to lock horns with the hosts in three T20Is and ODIs starting on the 18th of this month.
