Michael Clarke infuriated over idea of moving New Year Test from SCG to Adelaide

After being sacked by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) as a commentator for the upcoming Border-Gavaskar Trophy, former Australian World Cup winning-captain, Michael Clarke has shown his disagreement over a matter.

As die-hard cricket followers might know Boxing Day and New Year Tests are the yearly spectacles that happen in the Australian region during the year's end and beginning, respectively. For the unversed, the Boxing day game happens in Melbourne whereas the New Year Test takes place in Sydney with both of them being quite popular in the cricketing scenario.

Moreover, recently from the past few years, the rain gods haven't been kind enough to the latter one with around 64% interruptions over the past eight years.

This concern was raised by South Australian Premier Peter Malinauskas, who mentioned that they have made a proposal to Cricket Australia (CA) to consider moving the game from Sydney to Adelaide as they have somewhat better weather at that time of the year.

"I think we had double the crowd at the Adelaide Test than we saw at the Perth Test. We often have bigger crowds than Sydney and that's despite having a far smaller population."

However, after listening to all this, Clarke straightway went into denial as he didn't took a moment to call it the 'end of Test Cricket in the country.' His point of view was MCG and SCG should continue to hold the extravaganza as they have traditionally hosted the event over the years.

"Not happening. Can't take Boxing Day from the MCG and you can't take new year's away from the SCG, absolute no-brainer. The day that stops is the day Test cricket is finished in this country. Their (Adelaide) Test match is perfect, when they've got it, under lights, it's perfect, it's working so well. Why would they want to change that?"

The Australian team is currently in Australia preparing for the India series beginning on 9th February in Nagpur.
