In an unfortunate turn of events, Melbourne Renegades skipper Sophie Molineux will face a stint on sidelines after suffering from an ACL injury to her left knee.

The left-arm orthodox bowler was injured while bowling the last over in Renegades' match against the Melbourne Stars on Sunday.

Now as per the scan results on Monday, Molineux has an ACL rupture and could be sidelined for months.

Her rehabilitation process will be finalised after consulting the medical team of Renegades and Cricket Victoria.

"Our thoughts are with Sophie and we'll do everything to support her now and through her recovery period," Renegades General Manager, James Rosengarten said.

"Sophie had put in a power of work over the winter to return from her foot injury and has been a fantastic leader for our team this season. We know Sophie will bounce back from this latest setback and we'll be there with her every step of the way," Rosengarten concluded.

Molineux has played 11 matches for the Renegades this season, and has scalped 11 wickets, at an economy of 7.18.
