Litton Das has responded to Ravichandran Ashwin’s big praise for him. Earlier, the Indian all-rounder had revealed that he had a friendly conversation with the Bangladeshi batter, during which he told him he had the potential to reach the levels of Virat Kohli, Steve Smith and Joe Root.

Litton Das says India plays more regularly than Bangladesh

Ravi Ashwin recently stated that he had a chat with Litton Das during India’s tour of Bangladesh in December 2022. The all-rounder revealed that he told Das about watching him on his Test debut back in 2015, and predicting him to reach the levels of modern-day batting greats Virat Kohli, Steve Smith, Kane Williamson and Joe Root. He said:

“I told Litton Das that I saw him during his Test debut. I saw his style of play and thought here is a pathbreaker to take Bangladesh cricket forward. I told him ‘I have a small disappointment. I thought you will reach the level of Virat Kohli, Steve Smith, Joe Root, and Kane Williamson.”

The Bangladeshi ODI captain has now responded that things were different for him back then as his side does not play overseas Tests as frequently anymore. He stated that Indian team plays regular cricket in Australia, New Zealand and other top teams, which allows their players to grow with confidence.

While speaking on Sportstar, he said:

“I told him that things were different back then. I was young and the more you play cricket at the highest level, the more you grow. Though we have played against New Zealand, we have not played a bilateral series in Australia, we don’t play too often in South Africa or in India or Pakistan. The Indian team plays regular cricket against Australia, England, New Zealand, so the players benefit.”
