Lance Klusener: Rohit Sharma needs to play his natural game

Indian captain Rohit Sharma is enduring a lean patch with the bat of late. The cricketer was dismissed for a duck twice in India’s three-match T20I series against South Africa at home. The opening batter also failed to get going in the preceding Australian T20Is and last month’s Asia Cup 2022 in UAE.
He is now slated to lead the ‘Men in Blue’ in the T20 World Cup in Australia. Ahead of India’s opening fixture against Pakistan, former South African all-rounder, Lance Klusener has shared a piece of advice for the Indian captain, in a bid to regain his lost touch with the bat.
Lance Klusener says Rohit Sharma needs to stick to his natural game
Lance Klusener recently suggested that Rohit Sharma needs to stick to his natural game. He added that if the team management is looking for someone to score quickly in the powerplay overs, the Indian skipper should just assign the role of the aggressor to someone else.
The cricketer-turned-coach claimed that Sharma does not need to score at a rapid pace every time. He described the opener as a match-winner for India, and the team needs to be careful with its established match-winners. During an interview with News18, Klusener said:
“My advice to Rohit would be just to continue how he has been doing in the past. There’s no need for him to go faster. He was playing easily fast enough, aggressive enough and well enough, not to have changed. I think you need to be very careful, especially with your established match winners.”
“I think the way Rohit plays he’s a match-winner in that department. So possibly if they are looking to increase the run rate that does need to go to somebody else.”
