Former England cricket team captain Kevin Pietersen recently expressed admiration for the innovative changes introduced by the South African SA20 league in T20 cricket.

He even suggested that the Indian Premier League (IPL) could adopt some of these changes to enhance the entertainment level in future editions.

The SA20 tournament allows captains to nominate 13 players before the toss and choose their final XI later.

The tournament also offers bonus points to teams that have a run rate 1.25 times faster than the opposing team.

"I think the new rules are very, very good. The toss doesn’t play too much of a role. I think that’s brilliant. Offering bonus points is also a great idea. I mean, you want to change the rules to make it more entertaining for everybody. Then why not keep progressing? Keep changing the game. Keep making it more entertaining. And also keep the players on their toes. I think the IPL can also implement this."

During the interaction, Pietersen also shared his two cents the future of ODI cricket. He stated that it is too early to say if cricket would be better off without ODIs, but added that the World Cup is a highly coveted trophy in the sport.

The legendary batter reflected on his own career, saying that he was able to achieve many great things, such as winning the Ashes and the T20 World Cup, but never won the ODI World Cup, which he considers one of his biggest regrets.
