England's white-ball captain and Paarl Royals overseas recruit Jos Buttler expressed his excitement over Jofra Archer’s return in the inaugural edition of the SA20, saying that the speedster is an X-factor.

Archer, who last played a competitive game for Sussex in July 2021, underwent multiple surgeries the same year to treat his elbow injuries. As a result, he was ruled out of the field for the entire 2022.

However, he's fit and likely to play his first game in the SA20 where he will represent MI Cape Town.

South Africa's new T20 competition kicks off on Tuesday, January 10 with the MI Cape Town taking on Paarl Royals at the iconic Newlands Cricket Ground in Cape Town.

If Archer is fit and available to play, Buttler will have to be ready to face his England teammate.

Speaking in a video uploaded by the Paarl Royals' Twitter handle ahead of the first SA20 match, Royals batter Buttler stated that he is excited to see the Sussex bowler back in action.

The Lancashire-based cricketer labeled the express pace bowler an "X-factor" and is wary of the threat posed by him.

"You know, selfishly, I’m excited to see Jofra Archer back on the pitch. Jofra has been out for a long time due to some injuries and selfishly, as an England white-ball captain, I’m excited to see him back and available and playing cricket," said Jos Buttler.

Coming from a long injury layoff, it'll be interesting to see how well Archer will bowl in his comeback tournament.
