Former Indian all-rounder Irfan Pathan believes that Mumbai Indians do not have a player who can bat effectively at the Number seven position in the playing eleven while also saying that their top-six is finalized.

With a total of nine spots to fill, Mumbai Indians went with a set plan, targeting all-rounders and spinners in the recently concluded IPL 2023 auction. They secured the services of eight players while shelling out INR 17.5 crores for the big fish Cameron Green.

During a panel discussion on Star Sports, Pathan rated MI's performance in the IPL 2023 auction and pointed out the missing piece of the puzzle.

"You can also get Cameron Green to open and then Ishan Kishan, Rohit Sharma, and Suryakumar Yadav - these four are confirmed. Tilak Varma will come at No. 5, Tim David will come at No. 6 but who will be the seventh player? Which other guy will bat here? It seems they missed out slightly there," said Irfan Pathan on Star Sports.

IPL's most successful team have finalized their top six after the IPL 2023 auction but will have a puzzle to solve when it comes to playing a batter at the No7 position. Tristan Stubbs, Tim David, Ramandeep Singh, and Arjun Tendulkar will be fighting for that one spot.

Mumbai have some really good players in their ranks, and they certainly have some impact players in their playing eleven for the upcoming season.

On paper, their possible batting line-up looks set, but there is no doubt that the top-six seems  one of the best in the Indian extravaganza.
