IPL 2023 | Unwanted Record for KL Rahul; Shunned Feat in Successive Matches

Lucknow Super Giants' captain KL Rahul is not going a good form in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023. So much so that the pressure is translating on the other LSG batters, especially Kyle Mayers, who began the IPL 2023 season on a devastating note.

Meanwhile, Rahul has played off a first over as a maiden in the second straight IPL fixture. On Wednesday, Rajasthan's Trent Boult bowled a maiden against the LSG skipper at Jaipur, and Gujarat's Mohammed Shami followed the trend at Ekana on Saturday.

Interestingly, thus far in his IPL career, the 31-year-old opener has played 12 maiden overs.

Although, after that maiden over off Shami, Rahul has started taking it on his stride, playing the aggressor for Lucknow in a tricky chase. The right-handed also completed 7000 T20 runs in the ongoing fixture against Gujarat.

After five overs in the chase, LSG are at 46-0, with KL going at a berserk rate with his 25* off just 16 deliveries, and Mayers is partnering him with a 14-ball 21.

Earlier in the match, the defending champions Gujarat Titans failed to put a par total on a sluggish surface at Ekana, compiling a mere total of 135 runs - courtesy of Krunal Pandya's 2/16 and Marcus Stoinis' 2/20.
