Purchased for a whopping INR 18.50 crore by the Punjab Kings (PBKS) franchise, England all-rounder Sam Curran has failed to lived-up to his expectations in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023. Curran, who was one of the key contributors to England's ICC T20 World Cup 2022 winning campaign, has managed just seven wickets thus far for PBKS in IPL 2023.

Last evening against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at Mohali, Curran gave away 44 runs in just three overs, which include a 20-run 19th over, where Andre Russell took the bowler apart. KKR went on to win the match by five wickets, eventually.

Speaking to Jio Cinema, former England spinner Graeme Swann believes that the pressure of the price tag on Curran is finally showing off.

Here's what Swann said

“You have got to feel for Sam Curran because he is starting to feel the pressure of the price tag. He couldn’t quite execute his plans tonight."

However, with the bat, Curran has performed decent enough, scoring 196 runs in 11 matches. The 24-year-old's form will be critical for PBKS if they want to make it through to the playoffs.

With five wins and as many losses, the Shikhar Dhawan-led side are seventh in the points table and faces Delhi Capitals next on Saturday.
