The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is likely to continue Umar Gul as Pakistan's bowling coach for the upcoming home white-ball series against New Zealand. The former Pakistani fast bowler joined the national team after serving as bowling coach for Afghanistan in the ICC T20 World Cup 2022, before shifting the base back to his home county.

According to Cricket Pakistan, Gul will only be appointed for the New Zealand series, as former South Africa pacer Morne Morkel, who is the front-runner for the role, is currently busy with the Lucknow Super Giants franchise in a similar position.

Abdul Rehman will also remain the head coach for the series, despite suffering a 2-1 T20I series loss to Afghanistan last month, which also had Gul as the support staff.

The PCB will soon make an official announcement regarding the same.

Former coach Mickey Arthur will likely be announced as Pakistan's men's team consultant and will bring his own selected personnel, which include Grant Bradburn as head coach, Andrew Puttick as batting coach, and Morkel as bowling coach.

Interestingly, the visiting New Zealand side have appointed former head coach of Pakistan Saqlain Mushtaq as their assistant coach for the tour.

The five-match T20I and as many ODI series gets underway on April 14, and will go on till May 7.
