In a remarkable turn of events, experienced Australian all-rounder Mitchell Marsh has completed 2000 runs in ODI cricket. Marsh became the 28th Australian batter to enter the 2000-run club in ODI cricket.

Notably, Marsh was stranded at 1961 ODI runs before the ongoing third ODI against India in Chennai. Opening the batting, the dynamic right-handed batter slammed 43 runs, accomplishing the aforementioned landmark in this process.

Batting alongside Travis Head, Marsh took on the Indian new-ball bowling pair of Mohammed Shami and Mohammed Siraj to ensure a brisk start for Australia. While his glorious boundaries enthralled the spectators, his nonchalant sixes spoke volumes about his red-hot current form in the all-important World Cup year.

Despite being a gifted cricketer, Marsh's international career hasn't really taken off due to frequent injury setbacks. After missing the entire BBL 12, the 31-year-old finally made his comeback in the India ODIs and made his mark instantly, smashing a brutal 65-ball 81 in the first game in Mumbai.

Unlike the first ODI, his fireworks didn't go in vain in the subsequent encounter in Visakhapatnam, as he powered Australia to a ten-wicket victory through a belligerent 36-ball 66*.

Regarding the Chennai clash, Australia, after a tremendous start, are in spot of a bother, losing Travis Head, Steve Smith and Marsh in quick succession. At the time of writing, the visitors were 85 for three in 14.3 overs, with David Warner and Marnus Labuschagne batting on 3* and 0*, respectively.
