Vijay Shankar has blown hot and cold throughout in his career with the bat both for India and his Indian Premier League (IPL) franchises. Currently playing for the defending champions Gujarat Titans (GT), Shankar played a valuable knock against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) to eliminate them and assert his dominance.

The right-hander known to play an aggressive brand of cricket formed an incredible 123-run stand with centurion Shubman Gill to take his team close to a total where he contributed with valuable 53 runs.

In the end, Gujarat finished the match in the final over with Gill hitting the winning runs. After the game, Shankar expressed that it would have been nice if he had finished the game.

"Yeah, I think going into the playoff, chasing the total near 200 is really satisfying. Personally, I feel I should have finished off the chase. I was hitting the ball pretty well so it's a good feeling,"

Also, the right-hander mentioned that they have been playing with set ideology of taking the game deep and stay in touch with the Net Run Rate. Adding to this, he said playing Chennai Super Kings in Chennai will be pretty special.

"I have been practicing in the nets, we have six bowlers so I haven't bowled yet in the game. I think we are trying to get closer to the target not trying to do many things. We are just trying to take the game deep, we just try to be near the required run rate. With the firepower we have, we can get over the line. It's just about taking one game at a time, to face Chennai Super Kings in Chennai would be really special."

Now, after this win, GT will move to Qualifier 1 where they would meet CSK on Tuesday.
