The inaugural International League T20 (ILT20) 2023 is gaining momentum, with all franchises making last minute adjustments to their squads and support staff with just under a month to go. A hot spot for franchise cricketers, the ILT20 will see England players like Dawid Malan, Moeen Ali, Chris Jordan, Tom Banton, and Sam Billings in action.

Malan, who was part of England's ICC T20 World Cup 2022 winning campaign, is signed with Sharjah Warriors, who will be captained by Moeen.

In a freewheeling chat with NEWS18, the 35-year-old said that he is all geared up to play in a league that features some of the world's best.

"Yeah, super excited. The best part about playing in franchises and different leagues is that you get to rub shoulders with the best players in the world. A lot of the best players in the world are a part of this league. From a player’s point of view, it’s super exciting for me to be able to be on the field with these guys and play against them."

The former ICC No.1 batter in T20Is also opened up about missing the T20 World Cup Final against Pakistan, and remained upbeat about making a strong comeback.

"Obviously really disappointing not to have played in that final due to injury. One of the toughest moments of my career. Definitely, I am confident and recharged and hopefully, will come back strong."

The six-team tournament will take place between January 13 and February 12.
