In a stunning display of power-hitting, 21-year-old Australian cricketer Jake Fraser-McGurk etched his name in the record books by achieving the fastest century in professional cricket. His explosive innings of 125 off just 38 balls left cricket enthusiasts in awe during the Marsh One-Day Cup in October. However, what makes this achievement even more remarkable is the inspiration behind this newfound success.

Fraser-McGurk, in a recent interview, revealed a pivotal change in his approach, drawing inspiration from none other than Indian cricket maestro Virat Kohli. The young Australian acknowledged that he had not been watching the ball as closely as he could in previous seasons.

Emulating Kohli's intense focus and hawk-like eyes, Fraser-McGurk aimed to identify the seam on the ball and react instinctively. This adjustment in his batting technique proved to be a game-changer, leading to his record-breaking century.

Fraser-McGurk credited his recent success to a Virat Kohli

“The last few seasons, I’ve felt like, it sounds weird, but I haven’t been actually watching the ball as hard as I can. You see players like Virat, whose eyes are really wide when he’s facing up. He’s watching it like a hawk, so I thought I could get something out of that and try to look for the seam on the ball, and then just reacting and backing my instincts.”

Beyond Kohli, Fraser-McGurk also expressed admiration for Australian opener Travis Head. By incorporating Head's commitment and unique style into his own game, Fraser-McGurk found success this season.

His remarkable achievements have not only captured the attention of cricket fans but also put him in the spotlight for potential IPL opportunities.

As Fraser-McGurk gears up to represent Melbourne Renegades in the upcoming Big Bash League, his focus remains on the ultimate dream—representing Australia in Test cricket. This young talent's rapid rise, fueled by inspiration from cricketing legends, promises an exciting future for Australian cricket.
