Punjab Kings have had a topsy-turvy journey in the IPL 2023, languishing at the eighth position in the points table with five wins in eleven outings. However, promising Indian batter Jitesh Sharma has emerged as one of the rare shining lights for them. Sharma, who represents Vidarbha in the Indian domestic circuit, has grabbed a million eyeballs through his nonchalant hitting and consistency with the bat.

Considering batting style, legendary Australian seamer Brett Lee has compared the keeper-batter to late all-rounder Andrew Symonds.

As quoted by NDTV Sports, Lee reckoned that Sharma doesn't over-hit the ball and executes proper cricket shots with remarkable control like Symonds.

Here's what Symonds stated

"He has got a very good power game without trying to over-hit the ball. You got guys trying that come out and lose their shape, almost bludgeon the ball over the boundary. Jitesh Sharma doesn't do that, He actually plays proper cricket shots,

"He reminds me of Andrew Symonds the way he bats. He used to come out and not just hit the ball super hard but in total control. That's a great asset to have."

Sharma has showcased his incredible finishing skills for the Kings, amassing 260 runs at a blistering strike rate of 160.49. After blowing hot and cold in the first few games, he made a remarkable comeback, contributing some crucial runs down the order.

Punjab Kings will take on Delhi Capitals in the 59th group-stage fixture of the tournament in Delhi on May 13.
