  • Had India Picked This Player Ex Player Calls It A Blunder To Exclude Ace Hitter From Wc Squad

Mohammad Kaif believes India should've picked Sanju Samson in their T20 WC squad

India concluded their World Cup campaign horribly, losing to a rampant English team by ten wickets in the semifinal. Several reasons, including the Indian bowlers' indisciplined bowling, were responsible for their painful exit from the showpiece event.

However, former India cricketer Mohammad Kaif believes that India missed the trick by excluding Sanju Samson from their T20 World Cup squad. Kaif, who represented India in 138 international matches, reckoned that Samson could've made the difference for India as he has been an impactful middle-order batter in the IPL over the years.

Highlighting Samson's impressive outings on the West Indies tour, Kaif considered it a blunder by India to ignore him for the mega event.

Here's what Kaif stated

"I think one player was ready, but was still not picked for the World Cup. Sanju Samson was ready for the No.5 position. He has been playing IPL for many years and has been leading Rajasthan Royals (RR) as well. He guided them to the final too this year,

"Samson played match-winning knocks in West Indies. When 2-3 wickets fall, he comes in and attacks. He has the ability to take on spinners and hit them for fours and sixes. He was ready but was not picked for the World Cup. That was a mistake."

Meanwhile, Samson is with the Indian team in New Zealand for three T20Is and ODIs the visitors are slated to play against the home team. However, the first T20I in Wellington was abandoned due to rain. The second match of the series is scheduled in Mount Maunganui on Sunday.
