Australian batsman David Warner has opened up on his future in the game.

The 35-year-old has revealed that he plans to compete in the 2024 T20 World Cup but he will assess his future in the longest format of the game. The 2024 World Cup will be co-hosted by West Indies and the United States.

Currently, the explosive batter will be focused on the T20 World Cup 2022. Australia will be expected to win the marquee event as the hosts and Warner will be a key player for them.

Warner has been in spectacular form in T20Is during 2022 and he will be hoping to guide his country to glory this time around.

So far, the southpaw has clubbed 292 runs in six T20I innings at a strike-rate of 164.04 and an average of 58.4.

Recently, there were rumours that Warner could be handed the Australian ODI captaincy but Cricket Australia chose to replace Aaron Finch with Pat Cummins. Finch had relinquished his role as the ODI captain of his country earlier.

Meanwhile, Warner is looking forward to the ODI World Cup in India next year as well. He said (as quoted by NDTV):

"I'll keep playing T20s. I'll look to try and get to the 2024 World Cup. And I've got my goal set on playing next year in the 50-over World Cup (in India).

"So for now we'll see how much Test cricket I've got left in me after this summer coming up and winter away. From there that will make up my mind whether I'll continue to play Test cricket and all three forms."
