Pacer Mohammad Amir, ahead of Karachi Kings' opening Pakistan Super League (PSL) match against Peshawar Zalmi, has made an interesting comment on former franchise captain Babar Azam.

Azam, who will be leading Zalmi this season after a trade in the off-season, captained the Kings' in the last edition to their worst-ever PSL performance.

According to Cricket Pakistan, Amir stated that the match-up does excite him, however bowling to Azam or a No.11 batter doesn't mean much.

"These kinds of matchups and player rivalries, keep players on their toes. I personally like these sorts of challenges because it keeps me focused.

"My job is to take wickets and win matches for my team, so for me, facing Babar or a tailender batting at number 10 will be the same,"

Interestingly, Azam also did not weigh much into his rivalry with Amir in the pre-match press conference.

"Competition is always good for the league. Not only Karachi, but every team has good quality local bowlers. That is why all foreigners play this league because it is a quality league. When I play against any quality bowler, I stick to my basics.”

Both teams will face each other in Karachi this evening.
