Australia's upcoming batter Campbell Kellaway has inked a one-year deal with Big Bash League (BBL) franchise Melbourne Stars for the upcoming edition of BBL 12. Kellaway thus becomes the final  Stars' player in the permitted 18-man squad for Australia's premier T20 competition.

The 20-year-old Victorian batter joins the likes of Trent Boult, Joe Clarke, Glenn Maxwell, Marcus Stoinis, Luke Wood, and Adam Zampa amongst other domestic stalwarts for BBL 2022-23.

Kellaway made both his List-A and First-Class debut for Victoria earlier this month. The left-handed batter was one of the stars for Australia in the U19 World Cup 2022, scoring 239 runs in 10 matches.

In a statement, Kellaway expressed thrill at joining the Stars.

"I can't wait to be a part of the Stars in the BBL this season and keep improving my T20 game. I grew up watching the Big Bash on TV and now being able to participate in it with a number of those players, is a huge thrill."

GM Blair Crouch sounded pleased about adding the youngster to their batting line-up.

"I'd like to welcome Campbell to the Stars Family, and we’re looking forward to seeing his development over the next few months. Having now completed our signings for BBL|12, we couldn’t be more happy about where the list is at."

The BBL 12 gets underway on December 13, with the Stars playing the tournament opener against the Sydney Thunder.
