England in a closely-fought encounter at Multan won the second Test of the three-match series and thus took an unassailable 2-0 lead over hosts Pakistan. With this win, Ben Stokes became the third England captain to win a series in Pakistan after Colin Cowdrey and Nasser Hussain. However, it was not an easy cakewalk for the Three Lions, who faced stiff resistance from Pakistani batter Saud Shakeel.

Shakeel defied the odds and kept the home side in the hunt on Day four, where Pakistan needed 157 runs to win. Shakeel scored a valiant 94 off 213 balls and departed to Mark Wood, with Pakistan 64 runs away from a series-equalling win.

Former Pakistan great and current batting coach Mohammad Yousuf has hailed Shakeel as a future batting star for Pakistan in a report by Cricket Pakistan.

The 27-year-old made his debut in the Rawalpindi Test amassing  113 runs in both innings, which include a high score of 76.

"Saud Shakeel always fascinated me with the bat. I can see Saud Shakeel becoming a big star of Pakistan Cricket in near future,

Both teams will clash in the third and final Test at Karachi on December 17.
