Under Babar Azam, the Pakistan cricket team lost the 2022 Asia Cup and the subsequent T20 World Cup in Australia. They also lost the home Test series against Australia and England, and barely managed to escape with a draw against New Zealand, all in a span of 12 months.

Amid rising criticisms over his future as Pakistan captain, the cricketer has now landed in further trouble, but this time off the field.

Babar Azam faces serious accusations through viral video

Babar Azam’s personal photos and audio recordings were leaked online, taking the social media instantly by storm. In the video, the cricketer can be seen sharing a private conversation with an unidentified individual.

While it remains to be verified whom the Pakistani skipper was chatting with, one Twitter user has alleged that the cricketer is chatting with the girlfriend of one of his teammates.

The legitimacy of the video and the leaked messages are yet to be verified, with no official response made either by the star batsman or the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB). However, the person in the video holds an uncanny resemblance to the player, thus dividing the perception of a legion of social media users.

Scores of Babar Azam’s supporters can be seen standing up for the cricketer. Many of them are claiming that the video and the recordings are indeed fake, while several others are questioning the integrity of the ‘Men in Green’ skipper.

Notably, Australia’s Test skipper Tim Paine was involved in a similar controversy prior to the launch of the 2021-22 Ashes. He was subsequently stripped of his captaincy by Cricket Australia and is yet to feature in any international Australian side since.
