Pakistan captain, Babar Azam, has expressed his team's unwavering focus on delivering a good performance in the upcoming ODI World Cup in India. This resolute approach comes despite the uncertainties surrounding Pakistan's travel to India, following India's refusal to travel to Pakistan for the Asia Cup.

In an interview with Geo News, the Pakistan skipper confidently stated that his team has every chance of excelling in the World Cup. He emphasized the significance of his own form, as well as that of Mohammad Rizwan. However, Babar also highlighted the importance of a collaborative effort, acknowledging cricket to be a team game, and calling for other players to step up when needed.

The 28-year-old expressed his intention to strive for stitching good partnerships at the top with the wicket-keeper, citing their effectiveness as an opening pair. He also acknowledged that it is unreasonable to anticipate runs in every inning, emphasising the importance of avoiding dependence on only two players within the team.

The elegant batter affirmed that the team has other players who are enthusiastic and eager to make valuable contributions to secure a victory for the team.

Furthermore, the cricketer spoke about his approach to dealing with criticism, acknowledging that it is impossible for everyone to be in favour of his performance. He remains optimistic and positive in his outlook, as he believes it enhances his confidence levels.

The Pakistan batting mainstay is currently leading the Peshawar Zalmi in the 2023 edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL), and has already demonstrated his proficiency by scoring two half-centuries in the tournament. Having made a move to the Zalmi from Karachi Kings, Babar will look to guide his side to their second PSL title.
