On Thursday, hosts Pakistan will face England in the first Test of the three-match series in Rawalpindi. Ahead of this crucial clash, Pakistan captain Babar Azam has come up with an interesting statement.

Speaking to Nasser Hussain in a candid chat, Babar revealed that he has looked up to AB de Villiers throughout his career.

The stylish batter addressed the South African great as his idol and disclosed that he always tries to emulate De Villiers' audacious shots on the cricket field.

Here's what Babar stated

"To be honest, my role model is AB de Villiers because I love him and the way he is playing and the way he is playing all the shots. So, when I see him on the TV, the next day I am trying every shot in the nets in the ground,

"I try to copy AB de Villiers and try to look and play like De Villiers because my ideal is everything he is."

Meanwhile, Babar's recent form has been a concern for Pakistan. The batting maestro managed only 124 runs at a mediocre average of 17.71 and a poor strike rate of 93.23 in the recently concluded T20 World Cup. However, as the Test series is on home soil, he will aim at a redemption, when he enters the field on Thursday.
