Meg Lanning, Australia Women's regular captain, opted to take an indefinite break following the team's triumphant Commonwealth Games campaign in September.

As Lanning continues to remain inactive, Australia have named Alyssa Healy the captain for their upcoming India tour comprising a five-match T20I series.

Meanwhile, Healy has provided important updates regarding Lanning's comeback to international cricket. The swashbuckling keeper-batter admitted to being in constant touch with Lanning, who seems to be aiming at a return in the near future.

Healy also revealed that she consulted with a few people before taking over the reins for the India T20Is. However, the 32-year-old seemed excited and nervous about his new venture as the skipper.

Here's what Healy stated

"I have been chatting to her, she is going really well and is looking forward to coming back at some point. That's really pleasing for us as a team that hopefully, she will be back around the group,

"I actually wasn't sure if I was the right person to do it or if they were looking to the future. I consulted with a few people outside of the game who suggested I was and maybe it was the right time for me to take an opportunity like this. Once that sunk in it was more excitement and nerves than anything else."

Australia Women's India tour commences on December 9, with the matches scheduled at the DY Patil Stadium and Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai.
