On Sunday night, Mumbai Indians emerged victorious in a closely contested final against Delhi Capitals to become the first champions of the Women's Premier League. Nat Sciver-Brunt played a vital role in the win, scoring a solid fifty and partnering with captain Harmanpreet Kaur to turn the game in their favor.

Mumbai achieved the target of 132 with just three deliveries to spare, prompting jubilant celebrations from the team.

This was the first major title win for many of the MI players, including spinner Saika Ishaque, who played a significant role in the team's triumph by taking 15 wickets - the joint second-highest in the tournament.

“Not able to express it, it’s a dream come true, speechless. I didn’t change my plans much, just tried to bowl dot deliveries. I would like to thank all the fans, grateful for their support," told Ishaque.

Even Yastika Bhatia, who was awarded with the emerging player of the season award, expressed her excitement and happiness over the win.

“I just can’t explain in words the amount of happiness I am getting right now. We were pretty relaxed yesterday, we just tried to focus on our plans on the field," Bhatia said.

Amelia Kerr also helped MI drastically achieving win over Delhi Capitals. She expressed her gratitude and admiration for Mumbai Indians' head coach, Charlotte Edwards, describing her as a legendary figure with a wealth of knowledge:

“I guess you train for and work hard for those finishing moments. You just want to keep it simple and stick your game plan. Nice when it comes off, it’s been an amazing win for an amazing franchise. You just get into a zone but in between the balls you hear the crowd and it’s great but you go back into the zone once the ball is bowled."
