Delhi Capitals (DC) skipper David Warner provided an ideal start to his side as he smoked the Punjab Kings attack to all corners of the Arun Jaitley Stadium to bring up a 23-ball half-century.

Chasing 168, Warner meant business straight away as he smashed right-arm seamer Rishi Dhawan for consecutive fours on the first two deliveries of the 1st over.

Warner was brilliantly supported by English swashbuckler Philip Salt, who cracked three fours off left-arm orthodox Harpreet Brar to set the Capitals roaring at 0/29 after 3 overs.

Warner then teed into Punjab's spearhead Arshdeep Singh as he clobbered him for a four and a six to sign off the powerplay at 0/65.

While he eventually reached his 50 off the 23rd delivery of the innings, DC were rocked with back-to-back-back wickets, with Brar accounting for Salt and Rilee Rossouw and Rahul Chahar sending back Mitch Marsh.

At the time of writing, Warner too had departed the field after he was trapped plumb in front by Brar, leaving DC reeling at 86/4.

Earlier, the Punjab Kings rode on a magnificent 65-ball 103 from opener Prabhsimran Singh to post 167/7 in 20 overs. Veteran Ishant Sharma proved to be the most impactul bowler as he claimed 2 wickets for 27 runs in 3 overs.
