Liam Livingstone has been out of action ever since he sustained an ankle injury during this year’s The Hundred tournament. The cricketer is currently in Australia, but is not expected to take part in England’s ongoing three-match T20I series against the hosts.

Livingstone is one of the 15 players selected to represent his side in the upcoming T20 World Cup in Australia. The team, under Jos Buttler, will play a warm-up fixture against Pakistan on October 17, nearly a week before they commence their T20 World Cup campaign against Afghanistan in Perth.

The right-hander recently expressed his excitement of returning to action for England. He said that he is aiming to face Pakistan in a warm-up fixture prior to the main event at The Gabba in Brisbane.

Livingstone claimed that he does not want to rush himself to recovery, and would only return if he is 100 percent fit and match ready.

“I'm aiming for the warm-up game against Pakistan but if I push it too hard, too early, you knock yourself back. I wouldn't want to go into a game not being 100 percent.”

The 29-year-old added that he is feeling like a “new man” following his extended break from the game. The all-rounder has been playing some non-stop white-ball cricket for the past couple of seasons. He said that he used his rare break by spending time with his family.
