BCCI President Sourav Ganguly is optimistic about India's pressure-handling capabilities and the presence of experienced players to prevail against Pakistan in the Asia Cup 2022

The mouth-watering clash between the arch-rivals will take place on Sunday (28 August).  The fixture will set the tone for both teams, to get confidence under their belt to go deep in the biennial tournament.

In their last meeting in T20 WC 2021, Pakistan secured their maiden win against the Men in Blue in the ICC events.

In a recent media interaction, Ganguly hailed India's impressive track record against Pakistan in the World Cups. Further, the 50-year-old thinks the experienced Indian players have the ability to handle pressure in crunch moments.

"Since 1992 I've been following Indo-Pak matches closely. In these 30 years we have lost only once. It's not magic that you will always win. You lose once or twice, it's not a big deal," Ganguly said.

"If you take all that into consideration, I know the likes of Rohit (Sharma), KL Rahul, Virat (Kohli), (Rishabh) Pant know how to handle the pressure."

Ganguly backs Kohli and Pandya's abilities

The former Indian skipper has praised Kohli for his work ethics off the field, and backed the star cricketer for a strong showing in the Asia Cup 2022.

Furthermore, Ganguly thinks Hardik Pandya's all-round abilities will be a key to the Indian team in clinching their third consecutive Asia Cup title. In the T20 WC 2021, Pandya could not contribute with the ball due to injury concerns.

“We all eagerly want Virat to get back to the Virat Kohli form,” KL Rahul extends his support to Kohli
