'Young Bowling Attack And...,'- Nicholas Pooran Speaks After Rinku Singh Special

Dynamic West Indian swashbuckler Nicholas Pooran's brilliant knock of 58 (off 30 deliveries) ultimately proved to be the difference between the two sides and he was rightly adjudged the POTM after LSG beat KKR by 1 run to book their spot in the playoffs.

Pooran has been in brilliant form all through this season, and on Saturday, he once again gave an account of his flamboyant hitting against both pace and spin.

Pooran hammered 5 sixes and 4 fours, and along with Ayush Badoni (25 off 21), lifted LSG from 73/5 to 176/8 at the end of 20 overs.

Speaking to the host broadcaster at the post-match presentation, the former West Indies white-ball skipper delved on his thought process that went into delivering such a knock.

He also lauded LSG's 'young bowling attack' for keeping their cool at the death against a rampaging Rinku Singh and eventually coming out on top.

Here's what Nicholas Pooran said:

"I knew I had to take it as deep as possible. When the spinners were bowling, I knew they'll give me bad balls and this was a small pitch. I've been batting well throughout the tournament, and I pride myself to play in such situations. The time has invested heavily in me and these are the ways that I can repay them."

"Ayush (Badoni) and I had that partnership against Chennai as well. I was confident batting with him at the crease. I think it is impressive that our bowlers are standing up to the challenge, they have done it in the last two games. We have a young bowling attack and to come to Eden Gardens and defend that kind of total was amazing."

Rinku Singh once again proved to be the crisis manager for KKR as the southpaw smoked an unbeaten 33-ball 67 to take his side agonizingly close to the finishing line.

Thanks to this thrilling win, LSG have confirmed their spot in the playoffs. They will now await the results of Sunday's double–headers to know about their opponent for the Eliminator fixture.
