In an unfortunate scenario, the much-anticipated first day's play of the India vs Australia third BGT Test at Brisbane Cricket Ground has been interrupted due to rain. Batting first, Australia were placed at 19 for none in 5.3 overs when rain disturbed the proceedings.
Earlier, Indian captain Rohit Sharma won the toss and opted to bowl first, stating that the visitors would try to capitalise on a fresh pitch and overcast conditions. The spectators witnessed a riveting brief contest between the two teams, with the Australian openers tackling the thunderbolts from Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Siraj.
However, as the fifth over reached the halfway mark, it started pouring down at The Gabba, delaying the proceedings. Will the first day of the Brisbane Test be abandoned due to rain? Let's see what the weather report says.
The Gabba Brisbane Weather Update
Brisbane's weather forecast for today predicts 25-50 per cent chances of precipitation between 11am and 2pm local time, with the probability being reduced to 20 per cent later in the afternoon. So, the chances of rainfall are not significantly higher, and we might soon witness a restart. Having said that, there could be a few interruptions, as the probability of precipitation is still around 10-20 per cent for the second half of the day.
Talking about the team combinations, India have made two significant changes for this game, replacing Harshit Rana and R Ashwin with Akash Deep and Ravindra Jadeja, respectively. Meanwhile, Australia have a solitary change to their playing XI from the previous game, with Josh Hazlewood replacing Scott Boland.
