In a key moment during IPL 2025, Chennai Super Kings (CSK) captain Ruturaj Gaikwad won the toss and decided to bowl first against Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) at the MA Chidambaram Stadium on Friday, March 28.

Gaikwad explained that since there isn’t much dew expected in Chepauk, they preferred to chase and play more aggressively while batting.

Why Have CSK Left Out Shivam Dube From Playing XI Vs RCB?

One surprising change in CSK’s lineup was the absence of all-rounder Shivam Dube from the playing XI. However, CSK’s strategy for this match was to strengthen their bowling attack first. Dube hasn’t been dropped completely; he is included as an Impact Player and is expected to come in later during CSK’s run chase, likely replacing a bowler.

Dube didn’t have the best start to his IPL 2025 campaign, as he got out for just 9 runs in CSK’s opening match against Mumbai Indians (MI), where Vignesh Puthur took his wicket.
