Travis Head is widely known for his explosive batting, but in the ongoing second Test between Australia and Sri Lanka at Galle International Stadium on February 6, he showcased his bowling skills in style. The part-time off-spinner struck gold in his very first over, dismissing Kamindu Mendis. However, it wasn’t just the wicket that grabbed attention—it was Head’s unique celebration that quickly went viral.

The big moment came in the 46th over of Sri Lanka’s first innings. On the sixth ball of his very first over, Head delivered a short-pitched ball outside the off-stump. The extra bounce caught Kamindu Mendis off guard as he leaned back to cut the ball, but it ended up getting an outside edge straight into the safe hands of Steve Smith. Mendis departed for 13 runs off 12 balls, leaving Sri Lanka struggling.

This was Sri Lanka’s fourth wicket to fall, adding to their troubles in the second session.

Australia Dominate With Their Strong Bowlers

After winning the toss and opting to bat first, Sri Lanka had a tough start. Australia’s bowling attack made early inroads, with Pathum Nissanka falling for just 11 runs. The experienced Dimuth Karunaratne soon followed, as Nathan Lyon removed both openers. Lyon continued his dominance by dismissing Angelo Mathews for just one run.

At the time of writing, Sri Lanka is at 136 for 5 in 52 overs, with Dinesh Chandimal and Kusal Mendis at the crease, looking to steady the innings.
