In the 25th match of the ongoing BPL 2025, Fortune Barishal delivered a commanding performance and defeated Chittagong Kings by six wickets on January 19 (Sunday) at Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium.

Talking about the match, Barishal won the toss and opted to bowl first, and this decision paid off as Chittagong Kings was restricted to 121 runs. Despite a resilient 35-run knock from captain Mohammad Mithun, the Kings’ middle and lower order crumbled under pressure, leaving them with little to defend.

Dramatic Mix-Up Leads To Tamim's Wicket

In reply,  Barishal's chase got off to a rough start, and a crucial mix-up between the opening pair resulted in opener Tamim Iqbal’s wicket. The incident unfolded in the 4th over of the second innings, Aliss Islam bowled full and wide outside off delivery. Dawid Malan played the shot towards extra cover. Tamim was eager for a quick single, and began his run.

However, Malan, seeing the fielders in pursuit, hesitated and refused the single. By then, Tamim was already well beyond his crease. The fielder Usman Khan, stationed at the position, collected the ball in no time and threw it towards Islam, and he removed the bails.

The run-out was costly and led to a fiery outburst from Tamim, who was visibly furious and frustrated as he stormed off the field. His angry reaction was captured on camera, and the captain appeared utterly disheartened as he headed back to the pavilion.

Despite the setback, Fortune Barishal’s chase was steadied by Dawid Malan and Mohammad Nabi, who put on a match-winning 69-run partnership. The duo ensured the team crossed the finish line comfortably, securing a six-wicket victory with plenty of balls to spare.
