Swashbuckling English batter Phil Salt had a memorable outing in Kolkata Knight Riders' ninth IPL 2024 clash against Delhi Capitals at the Eden Gardens Stadium in Kolkata. 

Opening the batting alongside Sunil Narine, Salt thrashed the Capitals bowlers en route a match-winning 33-ball 68, helping KKR chase the modest 154-run target with ease. 

The English batter, who struck seven boundaries and five sixes during his stay, couldn't finish the game for his team, being dismissed by Axar Patel. 

The incident occurred during the ninth over of KKR's innings when the hosts were cruising towards an emphatic win, thanks to Salt's onslaught. 

Bowling the first ball of his second over, Axar Patel delivered a magical arm ball, which Salt tried to cut only to find his off stump uprooted. 

After being castled by the wily Indian spinner, Salt had a shocking reaction on his face, applauding the bowler's mastery. His reaction reminded fans of legendary Indian batter Virat Kohli, who once got shocked upon being bowled by Adil Rashid's ripper in an ODI. 

Needless to say, 153 was never going to be enough to defend under dew in Kolkata. As a result, the Knight Riders secured their sixth group-stage win, strengthening their playoff qualification chances.
