India is scripting a dramatic comeback in the first Test match against New  Zealand at the M.Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. The visitors had taken the driver's seat with a massive lead in the first innings. However, the home team showed great resilience in their second dig of the match and are currently crawling back into the game.

Kohli and Sarfaraz laid the foundation of India's comeback

India's opening duo initiated the comeback, which displayed resilient batting at the beginning of the second innings. Virat Kohli and Sarfaraz Khan carried it forward, stitching a counter-aggressive partnership that took India close to New Zealand's score.

Even though Kohli was dismissed off the last ball on Day 3, Sarfaraz Khan continued his excellent work. He brought up a dazzling Hundred on Day 4 and has been joined by Rishabh Pant in the middle.

Pant picked up the counter aggressive mode of Sarfaraz

While Sarfaraz attacked the Kiwi bowlers, Rishabh joined him at the party. On the second delivery of the 61st over, Rishabh Pant hit a massive maximum against Tim Southee. It was a full delivery outside the off stump. Pant climbed on the ball and smashed it straight over long-off into the roof of the Chinnaswamy Stadium.

Pant gets his full flow after injury scare

Notably, Rishabh Pant could not participate in Day 3's play due to a knee injury suffered on Day 2. However, he looked fit in the crease while batting. The maximum against Southee was a testament to the fact the batter has found his flow, and the knee injury is not troubling him too much.
