Ajinkya Rahane has not been in great form in IPL 2024, and his torrid run of form continued in the game 49 of IPL 2024 against Punjab Kings as he ended up scoring 29 off 24 balls. The right-handed batter failed to find timing initially in his knock and though he hit some good boundaries later, he still scored  his runs at a strike rate of just 120.83.

His wicket fell in the 9th over when Brar bowled a tossed up delivery on the middle stump line. Rahane went for a big slog-sweep, sensing an opportunity to get a boundary, but got a big top edge. The ball went in the air towards deep mid-wicket and Rilee Rossouw took a fine catch near the fence.

After the wicket of Rahane, Shivam Dube also fell on the next ball, and in the very next over, Rahul Chahar got the better of Ravindra Jadeja who was promoted to number 4. 

From 64-0, CSK were reduced to 70-3, and the onus is once again on Ruturaj Gaikwad, the captain of the side to take CSK to a good total against a Punjab team that chased down a record 263-run target in their last game against KKR.
