Quinton de Kock is one of the finest cricketers to play for South Africa and whenever he plays for his country, there is lot of responsibility on his shoulders. In the 16th match of T20 World Cup 2024 between South Africa and Netherlands, he was expected to carry his team through in a small run-chase of 104, but before he could even face his first ball, he was run-out for a Diamond Duck.

It was the very first delivery of South Africa's innings and Vivian Kingma bowled a full delivery angling into middle and leg. Reeza Hendricks tried to tuck it towards the leg side, but missed it and the ball went off his pad towards the fine leg region. 

Quinton de Kock ran towards the batter's end to take a quick leg bye, but Reeza Hendricks was ball-watching and by the time he realised that De Kock is running towards him, he panicked and first tried to run towards the bowler's end, but then went back to the batter's end. Quinton de Kock was left high and dry till then, and the throw came at the bowler's end as the southpaw was way out of his crease.

His wicket was just the start, and South Africa were soon reduced to 12-4, as Netherlands once again showed why they have dominated Proteas in the last couple of World Cups.
