Head position is the first factor that holds the key more than anything else when playing a cover drive. Sri Lankan opener Pathum Nissanka demonstrated how to play it flawlessly on Saturday (September 9) in their Asia Cup Super Four match against Bangladesh.

Against Taskin Ahmed in the first over of the day, Nissanka was, more importantly, given leg-before just prior to playing that shot. The decision was reversed after a successful DRS, and boy, he could not have responded any better after the happening.

It was Taskin's fifth ball of the first over, pitched at a good length but just outside the off stump. Nissanka put in a good stride before driving it straight through the covers for a magnificent boundary. There were not many safeguards, though, as Bangladesh started the game with three slips and an aggressive strategy.
