Riding on a sensational partnership between Jasprit Bumrah and Akash Deep, India avoided the follow-on in the ongoing third Test against Australia at The Gabba in Brisbane. Despite India losing nine wickets, the fast bowlers teamed up for a crucial stand for the final wicket, eventually saving the visitors from embarrassment on a rain-marred day.

Although Bumrah looked sublime with the bat, Akash Deep's cheeky boundary took India past the follow-on target. The incident occurred during the 75th over of India's first innings when Australian captain Pat Cummins brought himself back into the attack to break the tenth wicket stand.

He tested Akash Deep with a sharp short ball only to see the batter guide it cheekily through the slip cordon for a boundary. As India were placed at 242/9, the boundary took them to 246/9, helping them avoid the follow-on.

As soon as India went past the 245-run mark, Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma shared a candid moment in the Indian dressing room, celebrating with passionate high fives. The moment was caught by the camera and instantly went viral on social media.

Bumrah-Akash Deep Stand Ensures India Go Undefeated At Stumps

In response to Australia's first innings score of 445 runs, India had a horrible start to their innings, losing Jaiswal, Gill, Kohli, Pant and Rohit in quick succession. However, valiant fifties from Ravindra Jadeja and KL Rahul helped them breach the 200-run mark before Bumrah and Akash Deep added valuable runs to their tally, avoiding the follow-on. India finished day four with 252 runs on the board, trailing Australia's first innings by 193 runs.
