The ongoing Women’s Premier League is spreading excitement with every other encounter. As the fifth match took place in Vadodara, Gujarat Giants Women and Mumbai Indians’ Women crossed swords in a nail-biting encounter.

A dramatic incident unfolded in the second innings as Kashvee Gautam sent Harmanpreet Kaur with an outstanding delivery, grabbing the limelight with her clinical bowling effort. 

Kashvee’s Lethal Delivery Sends Harmanpreet Back

As the Kotambi Stadium hosted the thrilling fifth match of the ongoing tournament, fans enjoyed a cracking encounter between Mumbai Indians and Gujarat Giants. Since the first ball, both sides ignited the face-off with thrills but the excitement touched a new height when Kashvee Gautam removed Harmanpreet Kaur with an exceptional delivery.

Kashvee came to bowl in the 8th over and Mumbai Indians skipper Harmanpreet Kaur was on strike. She bowled a brilliant in-swinger that caught Harmanpreet off guard. The MI captain shuffled across the stumps, but ended up missing it and getting hit on the pad.

The impact was on middle and leg, with the ball moving further in. Even though it was a close call, Harmanpreet chose not to review the umpire's decision after a quick discussion with Sciver-Brunt, and she walked away, unlocking a valuable breakthrough for the Gujarat Giants.


Mumbai Indians Secure Emphatic Win Vs Gujarat Giants

After a close defeat in the previous match, MI bounced back in the WPL 2025 remarkably. Bowling first, they nailed the match with their domination as Hayley Matthews led the way by picking up three wickets. Scriver Brunt and Amelia Kerr proved their all-round abilities, securing two scalps each. With those outstanding efforts, they restricted the opponent to just 120 runs.

While chasing the total was not difficult, the MI side faced a few setbacks while batting. After Yastika Bhatia’s early dismissal, Hayley Matthews departed scoring 17 runs. But Nat Scriver-Brunt shone with consecutive half-centuries as she played an incredible knock of 57 runs in 39 deliveries. With a dominating performance, the inaugural WPL champions defeated Gujarat Giants by five wickets and registered their first win of this season.
