In what has been dubbed as the most awaited clash of the season, cricketing giants India and Pakistan are gearing up to meet on the cricket field in the third Super Fours match of Asia Cup 2023 on Sunday, September 10, at R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo.

IND vs PAK: Colombo weather update

Historical and political conflicts have made their contests on the cricket field sporadic, making every encounter a potboiler of emotions. With Asia Cup 2023 in full swing, it's an exhilarating rarity to see the two giants locking horns twice in a mere span of a week.

Yet, as fans across both nations and around the globe are brimming with excitement, there's a looming challenge that threatens to play spoilsport: the weather.

In what comes as welcome news, Colombo is currently graced with bright sunshine, presenting clear blue skies, which has renewed hopes and heightened anticipation for the much-awaited IND vs PAK clash. Fans and players alike are relishing this momentary reprieve, especially with the dark cloud of weather predictions hovering over the event.

However, leading weather forecast websites like Accuweather and Weather.com have forecasted an unsettling 90% likelihood of rain later in the day. If these predictions materialize, the marquee IND vs PAK clash might be interrupted, if not entirely washed out.

Bur all hope is not lost for the fans. In an unusual decision by the Asian Cricket Council, this particular Super Four fixture is the only one that has a reserve day allocated to it.

So, suppose the weather does not cooperate on September 10. In that case, the match will be postponed and recommenced on Monday, September 11, ensuring that billions of fans across both countries and worldwide get to witness the action-packed encounter.

Led by Babar Azam, Pakistan has been in sublime form, commanding the top spot in the points table with a net run rate of 1.051. In contrast, the Indian team, celebrated for its robust batting lineup, finds itself bracing for the challenge presented by Pakistan's lethal pace battery.

Meanwhile, as the clock ticks down to this monumental clash, fans and players alike will be casting a wary eye towards the sky, hoping that rain gods stay away from the grand spectacle they eagerly await.
