The third season of the SA20 2025 has gone on the way with the first match between the MI Cape Town and the Sunrisers Eastern Cape. This game is being played at the St. George's Park in Eastern Cape.
Notably, the Sunrisers won the toss for the game and put the MI Cape Town into bat. Eastern Cape had a great start to the game as they picked up the wicket of Reeza Hendricks pretty early in the game. Things seemed to have slowed down since them. While the Sunrisers have struggled to get wickets after that, MI Cape Town have also not been able to put the foot on the pedal and increase the scoring rate.
During the fifth over of the innings, it was seen that the bails at the non-strikers were being switched around by the umpire, Marais Erasmus. The switching of the bails to change the luck towards the team was seen during the recently concluded Border Gavaskar Trophy.
Bail Switch Saga Reminded From BGT 2024-25 in SA20
The incident of switching bails during the recently concluded Test series between Australia and India earned quite a bit of attention from the fans. The incident mostly involved Marnus Labuschagne and Mohammed Siraj. It was seen that while the Australian batter was going well in the middle, Siraj shifted the bails around to bring about good luck for the team. It seemed to have worked as the batter was immediately dismissed after that.
However, the case was not the same in the case of the first match of the SA20 2025. The zing bails seemed to have went off during the game and hence the on-field umpire was demanding a change of the equipments.
