The ongoing semi-final 1 of the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2024 between Baroda and Mumbai saw the Krunal Pandya-led side crumble under pressure. The run-scoring maniacs, who made history by slamming the highest runs ever in the tournament, lacked the usual shine with the bat in this game.
In this crucial do-or-die clash, Mumbai came out on top as Shivam Dube breathed fire on Baroda's Hardik Pandya, who has been in red-hot form this season, smashing 246 runs in seven matches at a brilliant strike rate of 193.70. In the game, Pandya started strong, slashing a cracking boundary; however, he quickly walked back to the pavilion as Dube struck and provided his team with a golden breakthrough.
During the 14th over, Dube unleashed an over-the-wicket short-length delivery on the body at a decent pace of 125.5 kmph. Hardik looked to work it onto the leg side but closed the bat face too early and unfortunately got a leading edge straight back to Dube, who took a simple catch right over his head.

Baroda vs Mumbai Semi Final Gets Exciting
Baroda posted a competitive total of 158/7 in their innings, thanks to a strong finish in the final five overs, scoring 55 runs, including 31 in the last two overs. After losing early wickets including Abhimanyu Singh Rajput (9) and Krunal Pandya (30), Baroda struggled at 89/5 in the 14th over.
However, Shivalik Sharma (36*) and Atit Sheth (22) provided crucial late partnerships, with cameos from Vishnu Solanki (6) and Mahesh Pithiya (6*). Mumbai's sloppy death bowling allowed Baroda to recover, leaving Mumbai with a challenging chase in the second half of the game.
