In the ongoing Big Bash League (BBL) 2024-25 match between the Perth Scorchers and Hobart Hurricanes at Ninja Stadium, the Hurricanes won the toss and decided to bowl first. The match started with a quick blow as Finn Allen was dismissed early by Riley Meredith for just 4 runs.
Keaton Jennings then steadied the ship, scoring a solid 35 runs. However, the real drama came when Josh Inglis was on the verge of reaching his well-deserved half-century, only for a mix-up to send him back to the pavilion.
Riley Meredith Sharply Runs Out Inglis
It happened in the 16th over of the Scorchers' innings. Riley Meredith bowled a slower delivery that hit Inglis high on the back leg. The ball rolled away towards the off-side, and Inglis, unsure of where it had gone, tried to sneak a run. Unfortunately for him, Meredith was quick to reach the ball.
Inglis turned back and dived to make his ground, but he was just short of the crease as Meredith underarmed the ball to the stumps. Inglis was run out one short of his fifty, leaving him frustrated.
Ashton Turner Helps Scorchers Post 156 Target
Later in the match, Scorchers' captain Ashton Turner helped his side to build a good score on the board with his gritty 39 runs knocn before being dismissed by another excellent catch from the Hurricanes.
With Meredith picking up three wickets off 27 balls, the Scorchers managed to post a total of 156 runs in 20 overs.
