Riding on bowlers' superb effort, Delhi Capitals had a fantastic start to the ongoing Women's Premier League final against Mumbai Indians at Brabourne Stadium. After dismissing Hayley Matthews for three runs, DC's premier all-rounder Marizanne Kapp got rid of Yastika Bhatia, as Jemimah Rodrigues plucked a magnificent catch.
Jemimah's Excellent Grab Awards Kapp Her 2nd Wicket
After winning the toss and opting to bowl first, Delhi Capitals Women initially kept things tight before Kapp cleaned up Matthews for a single-digit score. The inaugural champions suffered another setback when the Proteas all-rounder dismissed Bhatia, courtesy of Rodrigues's stunning catch.
The incident occurred during the fifth over of MI Women's innings when Bhatia was trying to steady the ship for her side along with the in-form Nat Sciver-Brunt. After dispatching Kapp for a boundary, the keeper-batter hit the ball in the air only to get caught by Rodrigues at cover point.
The outstanding catch showcased Jemimah's sharp reflexes, further establishing her as one of the finest fielders in Women's cricket. Meanwhile, Yastika concluded her abysmal WPL 2025 campaign, finishing the tournament with 88 runs at a horrendous average of 9.78.
Harmanpreet Kaur Joins Sciver-Brunt In The Middle
After Yastika's departure, MI Women's captain Harmanpreet Kaur joined Sciver-Brunt to consolidate the innings. As of writing, MI Women were struggling at 21 for two in 6.3 overs, with Kaur and Sciver-Brunt batting on 6* and 4*, respectively.
