Babar Azam orchestrated a blazing start for the Colombo Strikers in their LPL 2023 fixture against Dambulla Aura. The Pakistan batting veteran whacked seven boundaries in his thunderous knock, including five off his first 11 deliveries of the run-chase.
The cricketer also pulled off one of his trademark cover drives for a boundary against Aura pacer Pramod Madushan to finish the third over of the innings.

Colombo Strikers opener and overseas star Babar Azam whacked as many as five boundaries in his first 11 balls of the innings against Dambulla Aura. Chasing 193 for victory, the cricketer raced to 27* runs from just 11 balls before slowing down in his innings.
The cricketer only managed 14 runs off his next 13 deliveries and was ultimately entrapped by young Afghanistan spinner Noor Ahmad.
Much to the delight of the crowd, one of the boundaries he hit during his 24-ball 41-run knock was a scorching cover drive in the third over of the run-chase against Pramod Madushan.
Unfortunately for Strikers, they ended up falling 10 runs short of their target against Aura.
Nuwanidu Fernando, who arrived to the crease following Azam’s dismissal, listed 56* from 39 balls to take his side to 182-4 from their 20 overs.
The defeat was Strikers’ second of the LPL 2023 season, as they slip to number four on the points table. They will now face Galle Titans on August 7.
