United Arab Emirates secured an 84-run victory over Nepal in the first fixture of the ODI series on Monday at Kirtipur.

Clinical Batters help UAE post a strong total

Invited to bat first, UAE had a good start with openers Muhammad Waseem (44) and Vriitya Aravind (40). The skipper CP Rizwan (2) failed to continue the team's momentum.

However, the experienced Rohan Mustafa (53) was terrific with his composure to help UAE get a stable platform. He stitched a 53-run stand for the fourth wicket with Alishan Sharafu (29).

In the end, Aayan Afzal Khan (26) and Ahmed Raza (27) provided valuable contributions as UAE finished on 263. Gulsan Jha was the pick of the bowlers for Nepal with two wickets.

Nepal succumb to pressure

In response to a stiff chase, Nepal could not get off to a good start as they lost consistent wickets. They were reeling at 41/4 in the 13th over, courtesy of Aayan's superb spell.

It was Arjun Saud (51) and Dipendra Singh Airee (54), who were impressive to keep the team in good stead with a 68-run stand.

Aayan wreaked havoc by finishing with figures of 4/14 in 10 overs, which resulted in Nepal scoring only 179 in their designated quota of 50 overs.

Brief Scores:

UAE: 263/7 (50)

Rohan Mustafa 53 (73), Muhammad Waseem 44 (41)

Gulsan Jha 2/26, Dipendra Singh Airee 1/30
