Bangladesh dominated the opening T20I against the Netherlands, cruising to an eight-wicket win in a one-sided affair. Taskin Ahmed ripped through the Dutch batting line-up with a fiery four-wicket haul. In reply, Bangladesh chased the target with ease, thanks to skipper Litton Das’ explosive half-century and Saif Hassan’s steady support.
Netherlands’ Batting Unit Dances To Taskin Ahmed’s Tunes
Batting first, the Netherlands had a steady start, with a 25-run opening partnership between Max O'Dowd and Vikramjit Singh. However, Bangladesh pacer Taskin Ahmed struck in the very second over of his spell with the new ball.
He sent back Max, followed by another blow in the form of Vikramjit. In 7.1 overs, the Dutch were reduced to 38/2. While Scott Edwards and Teja Nidamanuru tried to rebuild the inning with a 28-run partnership, Bangladeshi bowlers kept on striking at regular intervals and didn’t allow the Netherlands to recover.
By the end of the first 20 overs, the Netherlands managed to score just 136 runs at the loss of 8 wickets. Taskin Ahmed starred with the ball, picking up a four-wicket-haul while conceding just 28 runs.
Captain Litton Das Leads Bangladesh To Cruising Victory
The chase was never tough for Bangladesh, given their squad strength and experience. Aryan Dutt fought for the Netherlands, cleaning up Parvez Emon for 15 off 9 balls. Tim Pringle hopped on the momentum to dismiss another solid batter, Tanzid Hasan. With that, Bangladesh were 2 wickets down with 92 runs on the board.
However, the fall of Tanzid’s wicket didn’t affect captain Litton Das as he arrived at the crease with the mood to finish the game. In no time, he brought up his half-century and built a strong 46-run partnership with Saif Hassan.
Litton Das (54) and Saif Hassan (36) guided Bangladesh to a comfortable 8-wicket win as the Tigers chased down the total in a mere 13.3 overs.
With that one-sided contest, Bangladesh went 1-0 in the 3-game T20I series against the Netherlands.
